Why
have a
flat bottom silo?

A very large number of industries use products handled and stored in bulk.
Because of the endless diversity of these products, their storage poses a serious problem.
Different approaches are possible, but they are not all equally effective. To ensure good results, the various solutions require very careful study.

MASS Flow This type of flow requires perfect adaptation of the characteristics of the silo (geometry of the cone, delivery dimensions) to the properties of the product stored.
Reserved for products that offer a good flow, it is difficult to apply this solution to large storage volumes.

FUNNEL

This is relatively frequent when the geometry of the silo is not completely adapted to the product stored. The FIFO principle does not apply.
Tunnel flow encourages the separation of the fine particles from the largest ones.
When emptied out, the product is no longer homogenous.

Formation



This critical situation arises when the silo and the product are totally incompatible. Gravity delivery is interrupted by the formation of a dome above the silo delivery outlet.
There is a major risk of an “avalanche” liable to cause serious damage.
